Almost a success (story)

College white woman finally talks to shelter residents -

AP New York - By

After 4 weeks of living in a shelter for homeless women, Ivy leaguer finally talks to homeless women.

Some residents began to feel like she needed to come off her pedestal, but the real problem seemed to be she needed an interpreter.

"At first, I did not know what `it bounced` meant, so i felt a little intimidated," said Hanna Ivy, recent graduate of Barnard. "But then i found someone to translate, and i felt the road to discussion opening."

"She talks to us now, and we are all becoming sisters," said one resident.
